LMAX Group Hires Blockchain Expert Luke Dorney as Head of Custody

Fazzaco learned that LMAX Group, a global financial technology company and the leading independent operator of multiple institutional execution venues for FX and crypto currency trading, has appointed Luke Dorney as Head of Custody.

In his latest LinkedIn post, Dorney expressed his excitement about joining the Group to spearhead its growth strategy for digital asset custody, stating, "Last week I joined LMAX Group to lead the growth strategy for digital asset custody. LMAX was one of the first companies I dealt with when I moved professionally into the digital asset space 4+ years ago. It was clear to me, very early on, that they were (and continue to be) a leading and trusted organisation at the forefront of developing the regulated institutional market structure for digital asset trading and custody."

As seen on his LinkedIn profile, Dorney joined LMAX Group from Blockdaemon, a blockchain deployment facilitator that manages nodes and payment rails for blockchain networks, where he served over two years, having held several key roles including Head of Sales EMEA, General Manager & VP of Sales - EMEA, and General Manager & VP of Sales - US & EMEA.

Before his tenure at Blockdaemon, Dorney gained extensive experience at renowned firms like Standard Chartered, Zodia Custody, and BNY Mellon, where he showcased his expertise in business development, relationship management, and sales. With over a decade of experience at J.P. Morgan, Dorney held diverse positions such as Project Manager of Clearing & Collateral Management, Vice President of Securities Clearing Services, and Executive Director of Corporate Investment Bank, among others.

In addition to Dorney's appointment, LMAX Group has bolstered its leadership team over the past year by welcoming key executives such as Managing Director Chris Knight and Head of Sales EMEA Andre Severi​.
