LSEG Names Irfan Hussain as New Chief Information Officer

London Stock Exchange Group plc (LSEG) announced the appointment of Irfan Hussain as its Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective January 2024. Irfan will succeed the Group's CIO, Tony McCarthy, who will retire in early 2024, taking the responsibility of leading the Group's technology team to drive cutting edge innovation in the global financial markets. Based in New York, Irfan will join the Executive Committee and report directly to LSEG CEO, David Schwimmer.

Irfan will join LSEG from Goldman Sachs where he has been with for nearly 30 years and now serves as Partner and Chief Operating & Strategy Officer for Engineering. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1995 and has held various roles during his long tenure at the firm in the Global Banking and Markets, as well as Asset and Wealth Management divisions in New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Irfan obtained his Bachelor's Degree of Computer Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin.

The appointment of Irfan is an important addition to the LSEG leadership team. Several senior executives at the group have revealed their departures over the past three months, including Chief Financial Officer, Anna Manz​, who will step down in May 2024, and Director of eFX Sales, Joshua Cater​, who has moved to Bloomberg last month.
