Ex-OvalX Exec Michael Baker Joins Capital.com as Head of UK Premium Clients

Fazzaco has learned that Capital.com, a forex and CFD broker, has hired Michael Baker, a seasoned head of sales and senior finance professional, as its Head of UK Premium Clients.

With over a decade of industry experience, Michael joined Capital.com from OvalX (formerly known as ETX Capital​), a spread-betting and CFD provider that shut down earlier this year. He served at OvalX for almost 7 years, starting as a Sales Trader in November 2016. Following two rounds of role changes, he was promoted to Head of Relationship Management in December 2020 before taking the position of Head of Online & Institutional Services at OvalX in June 2021.

Michael has previously held roles in futures trading and client services in several financial firms including Pip Index Capital Markets, Panima Capital Management and Divento Financials.

In February, OvalX sold its client assets to Capital.com​, winding down its operations and leaving its top executives for other companies. Among them, its Spreadbetting Sales Head Mark Foulds​ moved to Alvar Financial Services, Group Chief Risk Officer Daniel Gladding moved to eToro UK, and Nandik Barbhaiya​, OvalX's Chief Marketing Officer, has joined The Portfolio Platform in the same role.
