London-based retail FX and CFDs broker Capital.com has appointed Rupert Osborne as CEO of Capital Com UK Limited (Capital.com UK), subject to regulatory approval.

In his new role, Osborne will be responsible for managing all UK operations, including setting the strategic direction of the business and overseeing important controls. Previously, these responsibilities were handled by Group CEO Kypros Zoumidou. The creation of a dedicated UK CEO position aims to better cater to the requirements of local clients and market dynamics, the brokerage firm said.

Osborne brings over 15 years of experience in trading and sales roles in the UK and US. He joined Capital.com in June 2022 as a Dealing Director, where he successfully managed a global team and oversaw market risk management. In January of this year, he assumed the position of Executive Director, taking charge of the company's UK and Australia businesses. Osborne's previous experience includes 11 years at IG Group, where he held various roles such as Senior Dealer, Deputy Head of Dealing for FX & Crypto, and most recently, CEO for IG US LLC. He began his career in 2007 at Landsbanki Securities, a leading Icelandic financial institution, serving as an Analyst for two years.

Kypros Zoumidou, Group CEO of Capital.com, commented on the appointment: "I am delighted to announce Rupert's appointment as CEO of Capital.com UK. As CEO of the UK operations, Rupert will steer the business forward while delivering the highest level of service to our clients in the UK. Rupert's appointment reflects our dedication to staying at the forefront of our clients' diverse needs while driving growth in step with local market changes, regulation and best practices."

Rupert Osborne said: "I am excited to step up to the role of UK CEO at Capital.com and lead a team of talented people. Together, we will build upon our many successes to deliver on the next stage of our strategy. By continuously enhancing our offering and forging strategic partnerships with like-minded innovators, we aim to deliver the best products and services to meet the exacting needs of our UK client base."

Prior to Osborne's appointment, Capital.com appointed Tarik Chebib as the CEO of its new Middle East operations. The company recently obtained a Category 1 license from the UAE's Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA).

In another positive development, Fazzaco reported earlier this month that the broker achieved strong financial performance in the full year 2023, with total trading volumes soaring by an impressive 53% to $1.2 trillion.
